General Information
Gazprom Space Systems provides satellite Internet access services on the following technologies:
- synchronous satellite links (traditional VSAT technologies);
- combined access (DVB-S technology): direct channel - a satellite broadband broadcast (DVB), the return (requested) channel - on another transportation medium or technology;
- two-way satellite access (DVB-RCS technologies): direct channel - a satellite broadband broadcast (DVB), the return (requested) channel - a satellite one.
Internet access on DVB-RCS technology is the main company type of this service.
Services on DVB-RCS Technology
The company’s DVB-RCS system is intended for arranging networks with data transmission, telephony, Internet access, video traffic transmission and satellite news gathering services. The network topology is of a Star type and implies two satellite transmission lines: a direct satellite channel from the central ground station to remote user terminals and a return satellite channel from a remote user terminal to the central ground station. The company can perform all scope of works on the equipment supply, installation and check out as well on processing approval documents following a simplified registration procedure.
Main parameters of Combined Internet Access
Traffic data rate:
- for DVB-S traffic – 52.5 Mb/s;
- for DVB-S2 traffic – 12.5 Mb/s;
- Input data rate per user – up to 52.5 Mb/s;
- Routing protocols – static and BGP4;
- VPN tunnel protocol - PPTP;
Available protocols of application level for a proxy server:
- HTTP, HTTPS, FTP;
- e-mail protocols – SMTP, POP3;
- videoconference (news) protocol - NNTP
For the return channel organization the user should have Internet connection via any provider or communications operator and the required set of the subscriber’s equipment:
- 1.8 - 2.4 m receive antenna;
- C-band converter (LNB);
- PCI card for DVB-S traffic receive and demodulation or a DVB router.
The return channel may be organized via Gazprom Space Systems’s or the customer’s satellite ground stations.
The return channel rate should be 1/10 - 1/4 of the max planned Internet data receive rate.
The user purchases and installs the equipment himself or with a third party assistance
The subscriber’s equipment allows to receive TV programs broadcasted via Yamal-200 satellites
