The development of communication satellites is a very difficult technology and capital-intensive projects.

Gazprom Space Systems implemented two such projects: Yamal-100 and Yamal-200. 

Yamal-100 satellite was launched in 1999, two Yamal-200 satellites were launched in 2003.  

The satellites became the basis of the Yamal Satellite Communication System, which is used for the benefit of Gazprom Group and by the large number of government, corporate and commercial customers in Russia and abroad.
